Prosper Omaha

Building on Progress. Accelerating Toward Prosperity.

The Region’s Constant Champion.

The Greater Omaha Chamber represents an eight-county economic development region, stretching from Nebraska City to Fremont, and includes Pottawattamie and Mills counties in Iowa. We serve as a catalyst and connector, advocating for businesses small and large. Our steady presence creates continuity across governmental administrations, economic environments and community projects. We are uniquely suited to spearhead long-term change through sustained programs and initiatives.

This Economic Development Partnership serves as a single-stop for economic development needs across the region. With the financial support of Prosper Omaha, we help businesses create jobs and capital investment.

What is Prosper Omaha?

Growth with intention. Progress doesn’t happen standing still.

To make sure our region doesn’t stagnate, the Greater Omaha Chamber took the lead in providing vision for what Omaha could be. This legacy stretches back three decades, with the 1993 launch of the Target Omaha program, which later evolved to the broader GO! Initiative in 2004. In 2019, our Prosper Omaha 2.0 strategy continued the five year cycle of evaluation, goal-setting, and execution. Fueled by $28.7M of support from 248 investors and aligned to support the region’s 2040 vision, during the past five years, we’ve done work in three key categories to accelerate Omaha’s development: Place, Business Growth & People. The results were impressive – over $5 Billion in capital investment and 20,000 new and retained jobs across the region.

In 2024, we have embarked on a strategic planning process to create the next three year vision. Over 100 investors extended their support this year and have engaged in this planning process.

GREATER OMAHA 2040

Launched by the Greater Omaha Chamber, United Way of the Midlands and Urban League of Nebraska – hundreds of people across the region worked to identify the area’s most critical trends and plausible futures. People, Place, Prosperity became our theme. It’s based on what’s coming, who’s coming and how we can establish ourselves as a world-class region. The Prosper Omaha 2.0 plan was developed to help reach the Greater Omaha 2040 vision.
